When you arrive at your destination station,  it is quite often situated within the final leg of your journey, unlike some airport's that involve a shuttle/tram/train service.  This mean's that you start your holiday from when you arrive, without having to run around for another hour or two because your journey is not totally over.

Environmentally train's are much more economic towards our surrounding's, being electric they do not use valuable resources and they carry more people at once meaning they have a higher transport rate.  The area being taken up by a station compared to an airport is very minimal, and rarely infringes on conservational land.  Rail travel can lay claim to some impressive green credential's, beng widely accepted as the least polluting mean's of transportation.  In the UK it was estmated that if internal flight's were made by train's instead, 118,000-362,000 tonnes of carbon and 18,000 - 58,000 tonnes of nitrogen oxides emissions could be avoided by the year 2015.  Compared to a full car, a full train is twice as energy effcient and drives down the carbon cost for every mile. 

Train's are good method's of transport for those with a medical condition or are nervous of flying or going by sea, they are very safe and have stable suspension.  This enable's passenger's to get up and walk around the spacious carriage without causing them to loose balance and there is no need for seat belt's.

Most of the modern model's have reclining seat's makng it easy to sleep in comfort, and travelling at night is a good way to save money on getting accomodation.  Sleeping compartment's are also often available, ranging in size and offer extra privacy, bedding, and facilities - including a free meal in some cases;  for around the same price as a bed in a hostel.  There are food trolley's, bar's and counter's dotted about on  board that serve hot and cold food, and sometimes alcohol

 For families and children is could be a novelty to travel by train, and is usually easier to look after younger passenger's with the extra room, and even the scenery out of the window. They frequently pass through fantastic scenery over the 100,000 mile rail network that span's across Europe and is not safely or easily accessible by other mean's.
